19 Weeks

How Far Along? 19 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? At the doctors on Monday I am still the same weight as last month. down 4 pounds
Maternity clothes? Love them!
Best moment this week? Getting a bunch of girl clothes from a friend of my MIL! What a blessing!
Belly Button? Still an innie
Measurements? Had my first one on Monday and I was measuring right at 18 weeks.
Movement? I feel her in the morning and at night when I am laying down. I have felt her from the outside a couple of times too!
Food Cravings? Frosted Flakes
Gender? Team Pink
What I miss? Nothing at the moment
What I am looking forward to? My anatomy scan on July 6th! Can't wait to see how much she has grown!
Milestones?  Baby's now the size of a mango! Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
Other notes? I can finally hear Shiloh's heartbeat on the doppler I borrowed from my SIL. It is around the 150's every time.

Daniel Reading

18 Weeks

Milestones?  Baby's now the size of a sweet potato! Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements.

21 Months

How Old? 21 Months
Height and Weight? Not sure and we probably will not find out until his 2 Year appointment!!
Teeth? He is working on getting his top incisors in and these will be the last teeth until his 2 year molars! YAY we get a teething break!
Clothes? 18 months
Words? The ones he uses regularly are: Dada, Daisy, Mama, Cheese, Please, Choo-Choo, "Whats that?", Get, Night-Night and "Get Daisy"
Food? He now loves corn on the cob, green beans, turkey dogs, oatmeal, bananas, strawberries, yogurt, peaches, fried okra, pb&j, hamburgers, and more.
Activities? He is still loving to pretend to cook and eat and loves the little kitchen at my mom's house. I am going to get him one at the one of the church consignments in August. He loves giving kisses and blowing kisses and he loves to climb!
What Happened? Daniel found out he is going to have a litle sister! He has also been swimming in the pool a lot and having so much fun.
My Toddler This Month? Whether being silly, throwing a tantrum, or banging a drum, your child may seem like a revved-up ball of energy with an uncanny ability to keep going and going. That's actually a good thing, because kids learn through repetition. But because children this age live so much in the moment, your 21-month-old has a hard time shifting gears from one activity or mood to another. He just can't stop himself when he's on a roll. You may even notice this tendency in your child's fine motor skills. He might scribble right off the paper or paint his arms or the easel as well as the drawing pad in front of him. The typical 21-month-old has developed some decent self-feeding skills – like filling a spoon with food and getting it into his mouth, spearing food with a fork, and drinking from a cup. Whether your toddler is willing to use those skills consistently at the family table is another story. Depending on your child's temperament, he may already be turning into a much tidier eater – or far from it. By his second birthday, he might find it distressing to spill a drink or get food on his hands or clothes. On the other hand, he might continue to use food like finger paint for months to come.

17 Weeks

How Far Along? 17 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Still down 4 pounds : ( I am still sick everyday...
Maternity clothes? All that I can wear even though I don't all that big.
Best moment this week? Finding out we are having a girl and seeing her fingers and toes and her little nose!
Belly Button? Still an innie
Movement? I have felt her some but not near as much as Daniel! I found out at the ultrasound that my placenta has migrated to the anterior position so it makes it harder to feel.
Food Cravings? nothing really this week
Gender? It's a GIRL!
What I miss? Being hungry...
What I am looking forward to? My appointment on June 20th and buying girl stuff!!
Milestones? Baby's now the size of an onion! Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.
Other notes? We are so happy we are having a girl. I feel like our family will be complete!

16 Weeks!

How Far Along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Down 3 or 4 pounds
Maternity clothes? Just ordered a new swimsuit!
Best moment this week? Finally starting to look more pregnant instead of fat!
Belly Button? Still an innie
Movement? Still just small movements every now and then
Food Cravings? Chicken and potatoes with Cream of Mushroom soup!
Gender? We find out in 4 days!
What I miss? Not being sick...yes, I am still sick and taking Zofran!
What I am looking forward to? The ultrasound and dinner on Wednesday!
Milestones? Baby's now the size of an avocado! Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.
Other notes? I am really starting to wonder if I am going to be sick the entire pregnancy :-(

15 Weeks

How Far Along? 15 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Down 4 pounds
Maternity clothes? comfy!
Best moment this week? Hearing the baby's heartbeat at the doctor on Monday. It was 158 bpm and very strong!
Belly Button? Still an innie
Movement? I have been feeling the baby at least once a day lately and it feels like it is rolling and just kind of rubbing up against me.
Food Cravings? Bagel with cream cheese, Cajun Egg rolls and still the Nachos Bell Grande from Taco Bell!
Gender? Don't know yet but the pencil test says Girl!
What I miss? Nothing at the moment.
What I am looking forward to? The Gender scan in a little less than 2 weeks!
Milestones? Baby's now the size of a naval orange! Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.
Other notes? With this baby I am having a VBAC and at my appointment on Monday the doctor and I discussed the process. They are "recommending" that I get an epidural in case there is a complication and need another C-Section. I was a little bothered by them saying this because I really want to go natural like I tried to with Daniel. They said it is just a recommendation but it is my decision. So pray everything goes as planned and I will get my natural birth!

20 Months

How Old? 20 Months
Height? 30.5 inches last month
Weight? 21 lbs 6 oz last month
Teeth? He has all of his first year molars in and is now cutting his bottom incisors.
Clothes? Mostly 18 Months
Words? Whatever he feels like saying, haha. He "can" say quite a bit but only when he wants to.
Food? He is a great eater! Not much he does not like.
Activities? He has started "pretending". His Mia has a play kitchen with lots of pots, pans and food. He will pretend to cook and also pretend to eat. It is so cute! He even says "yumm" when he eats the pretend ice cream cone. He has also become very aware of airplanes, helicopters, cars, trucks and trains.
What Happened? Daniel had his first and hopefully only Hospital stay and we went to Disney World!
My Toddler This Month? At 20 months, your child may be able to run. He may also go up stairs by himself but need some help on the way down. He's probably still working on throwing a ball overhand, kicking a ball forward, and jumping – skills he's likely to master by age 2. He's active in less desirable ways as well. Small children frequently resort to hitting, pushing, biting, tugging, and other frowned-on actions to feel more important but also to experiment: What happens when I hit Emma? Will the same thing happen when I hit Jacob?
Don't overreact to your toddler's behavior. If you retaliate by hitting, it teaches that hitting is okay. Calmly make clear that such actions are never acceptable – no matter how intense your child's feelings.

14 Weeks

How Far Along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Still down about 5 pounds
Maternity clothes?  Pretty much all maternity clothes with the exception of a few shirts.
Best moment this week? Scheduling the 16 week gender ultrasound!
Movement? I have felt the baby a few times but it is very light.
Food Cravings? Jalapenos and bagels with cream cheese.
What I miss? Having energy, not being nauseated and being able to eat!
What I am looking forward to? My appointment on Monday and hopefully hearing the baby's heartbeat with the doppler!
Milestones? Baby's now the size of a lemon! Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.
Other notes? I'm so ready to feel better!

13 Weeks

How Far Along? 13 weeks 5 days! Yay for the second trimester!
Total weight gain/loss? Still down 5 pounds or so.
Maternity clothes?  Mostly all Maternity pants and some Maternity shirts
Best moment this week? Thinking I felt the baby move! With Daniel I was almost 15 weeks but I am pretty sure I know what I felt.
Movement? See above
Food Cravings? Jalapenos
What I miss? Not being nauseated!
What I am looking forward to? Finding out the gender!
Milestones? Baby's now the size of a peach! Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy --much more convenient.
Other notes? My computer is still broken...

Our Hospital Adventure

Monday, April 18th, Daniel ate dinner and about 10 minutes later he started coughing. Brian gave him a bath and Daniel started sounding like he was having a hard time breathing. I called the doctor's office and they told us to take him to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Immediate Care. We left right away and Brian sat in the back seat with Daniel while I drove. It seemed like everyone was going extra slow on the roads! We got there and he was sent to triage within about 5 minutes. They checked his pulse ox and listened to his breathing and decided he would be seen next. The doctor saw him and said his lungs sounded clear, she was not exactly sure what was going on. They did a few x-rays to make sure he had not swallowed anything. They did not see anything on the films but told us that if there was food lodged in his throat it would not show up. She decided he probably had the beginnings of Croup and gave him a dose of Decadron (an oral steroid). She said if he started sounding worse or spiked a high fever to take him to the ER. Well, the next morning he still seemed to feel bad and was still coughing but it had stayed the same. We just had a lazy day and I held him a lot. He took 4 naps which it is usually hard to get him to take one good one. That night he started sounding a little worse and kind of like the Pertussis commercial with the baby coughing. Wednesday morning I took him to our Pediatrician and they listened to his lungs, checked his ears and throat, gave  him a breathing treatment and nothing changed. His doctor decided it was best that we went to Scottish Rite to be evaluated. I don't think I have ever been so scared! Since no one was with me the doctor decided that having an ambulance transport us to the hospital was best. Since he sounded like he had Pertussis, we had to wear masks. I called Mimi, Poppy and of course Daddy. The ambulance came in about 15 minutes and Mimi came up there too. She followed behind us, Daddy met us there and Mia met us there too. Daniel fell asleep on the ride there.

Riding in the Ambulance

When we got to the hospital, we had a nurse in the room within 2 minutes! They hooked him up to a pulse ox and some cardio leads to monitor him. The doctor came in within 15 minutes and we discussed what was going on. We asked for a Pertussis test and he agreed. He also listened to Daniel's lungs and checked his ears and throat. All of it looked good...still. The doctor said he wanted to admit Daniel for observation for at least 24 hours, take some more x-rays and to consult with the ENT. They possibly would take a scope and look down his throat and lungs to make sure there wasn't anything lodged in there. That meant he would have to be put under :-( Oh and taking x-rays of a 19 Month old is horrible! He had to be held down and it just makes a momma so sad to see this happen.

So next we were moved into the "pre-admission" room where we met with the Hospitalist. She agreed with what the other Doctors had said and scheduled us to meet with ENT ASAP. A few minutes later (30) we were officially admitted and introduced to our little room. Daniel was exhausted and fell asleep in my arms. I had to carry him up to the new room. I put him in the hospital crib when we got up there and he slept for a while.

Oh and Daniel had not had anything to eat or drink since 6:30 in the morning. We got into our room around 3. A little while later the ENT NP came in and talked to us about what the scope procedure entailed. She said she would check the OR schedule and hopefully we could have it done around 5. Well a couple of minutes later she came in and said they were ready. An OR had opened up and it was about 4. We carried Daniel down to Surgery and met with the Doctor who was doing the procedure as well as the Anesthesiologist. It was so nerve racking to know he was going back there and even the minimal risk that was involved. Thankfully they didn't start his IV until they had gassed  him and he was out. About 30 minutes later the Doctor that preformed the surgery came into the waiting room and let us know it went great and they did not find anything. He was in recovery and they would bring  him back up to his room in a little while.

After all that, we still did not know what was wrong. His doctor came in and told us they would just give him fluids and monitor him through the night. She also let us know he could eat!! I ordered his dinner and he was so happy to eat. His pulse ox never went below 92 but that alarm went off constantly. Pops and Poppy came up to the hospital and spent some time with Daniel. Everyone left around 8:30 or 9 and it was just me and the little man. I finally got him to sleep around 10 and then he got all wrapped up in the IV around 11. The alarms went off ALL NIGHT and the nurse came in every few hours but thankfully he stayed asleep. The next morning he woke up around 5 and I ordered his breakfast but they did not serve it until 7:30. Thankfully the nurse's station had applesauce and I had saved a blueberry muffin from his dinner the night before.

Mimi came up to relieve me for a few minutes so I could get out of the room and get some coffee. She stayed for a while waiting for the Respiratory Therapist and his doctor so we could find out what was next. Mia came up around 12 and brought me lunch. The doctor finally came in close to 1 and said we could go home. He was diagnosed with a strange case of Croup and put on Steroids and Amoxil. We were so glad to go home!

On Friday, the day after we were discharged the Pertussis test came back negative! Thank you God!

The Garden

It has been a very busy few weeks!  Mimi and Pops came over a couple of weeks ago to help us plant a garden! We planted 4 different types of tomatoes and some cucumbers. Daniel had so much fun playing in the dirt and "helping" in the Garden.

Weeks 10 and 11

How Far Along? 11 weeks 6 days
Total weight gain/loss? Lost 6 pounds
Maternity clothes?  Mostly all Maternity pants and some Maternity shirts
Best moment this week? Having the ultrasound and finding out thee baby is measuring 6 days ahead. Which is why weeks 10 and 11 are combined.
Movement? Not that I can feel but their baby is moving all over the place.
Food Cravings? Potatoes

Week 11 - Baby's now the size of a lime! Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming --setting up a significantly more attractive future.
Other notes? My computer is broken which is why I haven't kept up with the blog. I am having to do it from my phone.

19 Months

How Old? 19 Months
Height? 30.5 inches
Weight? 21 lbs 6 oz
Teeth? He now has his 2 top molars in and the bottom ones are working their way through.
Clothes? He is in mainly 12- 18 months clothes!
Words? Hey, Yes, Please, Dada, Mama, Cheese, Fish, Daisy, Get, That, VeggieTales, All done, Nini (Mimi), Mi (Mia), Thanks, Shhh. He has also started using  combinations of words, such as, "There he is", "Get ____" (whatever he is referring to)
Food? Spaghetti, fried eggs, Jambalaya, okra, cheese, peanut butter and jelly, broccoli, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, carrots, chicken, turkey, crackers, bananas, apples, pears, peaches, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes and many more.
Activities? This month we went to the park, to the Aquarium, had many playdates with friends, Attending many birthday parties and much more!
What Happened? Daniel found out he is going to be a big brother!
My Toddler This Month? Even the most cooperative, cheerful, and outgoing young toddler will whine, cling, and cry sometimes. These behaviors are your child's way of saying "Help! All systems overloaded!"
Your 19-month-old is learning new things and refining skills at a dizzying rate. Frustration is inevitable and manifests itself in different ways, depending on the child. Accept these signals for what they are: a cry for attention and TLC.
If it's feasible, respond and let your child know you can tell he's upset. Acknowledge his feelings but don't make too big a deal out of these short-lived emotional storms. If he's crying and clinging, a few hugs and then simple distraction might work. If he's whining, you might explain, "I can't understand you when you whine. Can you show me what you want?"
A transitional object or "lovey," such as a blanket or teddy bear, can buck up an anxious toddler. Not every child develops an attachment to a lovey, but if yours has one, encourage its use. Build quiet time and one-on-one play with you into your child's day, especially if he has a busy day at childcare.
These behaviors will fade over the next few years as your child gains emotional control and a better sense of his place in this big, bewildering world.

The Georgia Aquarium!

Brian was off work for the last few days and we decided to take Daniel to the Georgia Aquarium. He had so much fun! When we walked in he immediately saw the fish swimming was trying to get over to them. He just stood watching the fish in amazement and kept saying "fish". After a few minutes of looking at the fish we decided to pull him away and walk a little bit considering we had only taken 2 steps from the entrance lol!

He has been two other times and this was by far the best! Here are some of the pictures and a couple of videos. (the pictures just could not capture his excitement)

Pointing the way...

Keeping up with the fish...

Dancing!

So excited with the Beluga Whales!

Look mom and dad!
