32 Weeks Old...

How Old? 32 weeks (7 Months, 1 week 5 days)
Weight? 15lbs last week!
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. 2/3 size diapers
Sleep? He is sleeping 10 hours straight consistently!!!! He is sleeping great! We lowered his bed last night so he can't reach the sides anymore : )
Best moment this week? Putting a contract on the house and deciding where things are going in the house :)
Toys? I got him a new blow up pool and  I put it in the living room (no water) he likes playing in it!
Eating?  He eats about 20-24 ounces of formula and 3-4 jars of baby food a day now. He loves Olive Garden bread sticks like his mommy!
New discoveries? We are working on holding his own bottle.
What I am looking forward to? Disney World and getting our house! Can't wait!
Growing? Teething can start as early as 3 months or as late as 12 months, but most babies sprout their first white caps (typically the two middle teeth on the bottom) between 4 and 7 months of age. Don't be alarmed if your baby has gaps between those pearly whites. Teeth often come up through the gums at odd angles, and spaces commonly disappear by age 3, after all 20 baby teeth have broken through. Once your baby starts teething, you can expect more drooling and experimenting with sounds — you'd do it too, if you had to adjust to having strange new things in your mouth.

31 Weeks

How Old? 31 weeks (7 Months, 5 days)
Weight? 14lbs 14oz last week!
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. 2/3 size diapers
Sleep? He is sleeping 10 hours straight consistently!!!! Yay for sleep!
Best moment this week? Finding a house and showing Daniel his new room and backyard he gets to play in!
Toys? Xylophone, pacifier, paper, tags and cell phones!
Eating?  He eats about 20-24 ounces of formula and 3-4 jars of baby food a day now. He is also eating come table food now and he loves it. It is so cute to see him chew!!
New discoveries? Holding more that one toy at once. He picks up as many as he can hold and then sits there trying to figure out what to do! LOL
What I am looking forward to? Disney World and getting our house! We are thankful for Brian working so hard to take care of our family and getting us a house!
Milestones? Your baby's beginning to understand how objects relate to one another in three-dimensional space. She may be able to sort toys, grouping smaller items by size. Babies instinctively combine objects by stacking them and, as they get older, trying to fit them inside one another. If your baby admires her reflection in a mirror and you suddenly appear behind her image, she's likely to turn and look for you instead of believing that you're in the mirror itself. A simple game of peek-a-boo might be absolutely fascinating to your baby. That's because she's starting to understand object permanence (that an object she can't see can still exist) and loves games in which people or things appear and disappear. Your baby can now straighten her back and twist her trunk as she sits. This ability enables her to sit for longer periods of play.

Pictures for Tax Day (aka Mimi's Birthday)

Jessica and I took Logan and Daniel to the park to get some pictures of the boys for Mimi. They had a great time and so did we! It is awesome to see how sweet they are to each other. Logan is really starting to notice Daniel now. I can't wait to see them play together when they are a little older.

7 Month Appointment

So the past 7 months have flown by. This was a follow up visit from his 6 month appointment. Since he had lost some weight and was not really gaining it back very well the doctor wanted to see him back in a month. He has grown 3/4 inch in the last month and gained 1lb 1 oz! The doctor said that was great and he is getting closer to being on the charts. He has been showing stranger anxiety for the last couple of weeks and the doctor said that usually does not start until they are around 9 months old and that he is really smart to already be aware of it. He is also a "very active" baby...which we already knew! He is constantly moving, looking, and trying to get to stuff. He loves to stand and hates to be in the crawling position. She said some babies skip crawling altogether.

This was taken at his 2nd Gymboree class.
He held onto this ball the entire time!

The Big 3-0!

How Old? 30 weeks (6 Months, 4 Weeks, 1 day)
Weight? We will find out tomorrow!
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months.
Sleep? He is sleeping 10 hours straight consistently!Except for the last couple of nights he has woke up coughing :(
Best moment this week? Taking him to Gymboree for his first class. He loved it!
Toys? He loves books, Mickey Mouse, and anything that will fit in his mouth!
Eating? He is doing a lot better eating baby food. He eats about 20-24 ounces of formula and 2-4 jars of baby food a day now. He also had Pumpkin for the first time and he loved it!
New discoveries? Picking food up with his hands and putting it in  his mouth! We are also working on waving bye-bye and high five! He is also trying to get out of my arms to get things now.
What I am looking forward to? Disney World in less than a month!!!
Milestones? Your baby now actively engages in hiding games. Place one of his favorite toys on the floor and cover it with a napkin. Pull the napkin off and say, "There it is!" Cover it again and repeat. For more fun, hide an object under something and wait for him to discover it. It's one of the easiest ways to keep your baby occupied! Your baby can remember that the jack-in-the-box pops up at the end of the song — yet he'll still laugh every time. He's also able to recognize different tones and inflections and may burst into tears if you speak harshly.

Because he likes predictability, your baby enjoys playing the same game or reading the same book over and over. In addition to patty-cake, try adding classics such as "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "This Little Piggy" to your repertoire.

Your baby may have already started feeding himself finger foods, although this can begin as late as 10 months. Once he reaches this stage, you can introduce a sippy cup. Try giving him a cup with a spout and two handles. If your baby's getting frustrated that he can't get more liquid out of the sippy cup, remove the valve in the top of the cup. If your baby's having trouble figuring out how to suck through the spout, take the lid off the sippy cup and let him first drink straight from the cup (show him how to tip it back so the drink flows into his mouth). Switching your baby to a cup sooner rather than later might make it easier for him to give up the bottle. If you're breastfeeding, you can even bypass the bottle altogether and go straight to a cup.

Daniel's First Gymboree Class

Brian and I took Daniel to Gymboree yesterday for his first class. It was really cool to see how Daniel paid attention and played with everything. He is in the level 2 class which is for ages 6-10 months. He was by far the smallest one in the class. The other kids his age looked huge!

Welcome Daniel!
Standing up holding on to the box talking to mommy and daddy
Sliding down the slide...Yay Daniel!
Climbing up the wedge...at least trying
On the Bridge playing "peek-a-boo"
Loves the rings

Laying on the log and getting the ball off the cones
Singing on the parachute

He loved looking at this little boy next to him, Theo!

29 Weeks

How Old? 29 weeks (6 Months, 3 Weeks, 1 day)
Weight? Hopefully about 15 pounds, we will find out at his 7 months follow up appointment on the 15th.
Clothing? 6 months! I packed up all of his 3 months sized clothes yesterday.
Sleep? He is sleeping 10 hours straight consistently!
Best moment this week? Celebrating Daniel's first Easter with our families! We also had a blast at the park with Jenn, Kayla, Tristan, Kate and Erin!
Toys? A top that Mia and Poppy got him for Easter and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ball his Mimi and Pops got him.
Eating? He eats about 20-24 ounces of formula and 1-2 jars of baby food a day now. He is not interested in baby food anymore. He will only eat one kind and had been spitting up really bad after eating it.
New discoveries? Baby Mum-Mum's Rice Rusks that are made with vegetables and he can pick them up and eat them. He also got a new ducky bath tub for Easter that allows him to sit up and play in the bath. They were both Easter goodies from Mia and Poppy.
What I am looking forward to? Taking Daniel swimming! With the weather being so nice it won't be long until the pool is warmed up!
Milestones? Your baby's fine motor skills are coming along. By now he can probably scoop things up with one hand and transfer an object from one hand to the other fairly easily. Fine motor skills involve small, precise thumb, finger, hand, and wrist movements and are used for actions like picking up things between the thumb and finger. Gross motor skills are required for activities like crawling, which use large muscles such as those in the arm, leg, or feet or the entire body. To encourage your baby's development of these skills, place a toy just out of your baby's reach and watch him try to get it. If he cries because he can't quite reach it, give him encouragement — but not the toy. He's just venting frustration and will become more physically confident more quickly if you don't make everything easy for him. After a few tries, he'll be able to lean forward to grab the toy and then straighten himrself again. Before long, he'll be rocking back and forth on her hands and knees or maybe creeping (pushing himself around on his belly) or even repeatedly rolling over to move about the room. Help him move around easily by dressing him in loose, comfortable clothes. Your baby's also showing an interest in small parts and the details of the objects around him. His ways of exploring are growing beyond banging and gumming, although those are still part of every toy interaction. As he explores, be sure to keep buttons, coins, safety pins, balloons, rocks, and other choking hazards out of reach.

Easter 2010

It is amazing how much better each holiday is when you have a child to share it with. Daniel had a wonderful Easter and we got to spend it with most of our family. It is amazing how much love one child can receive. It will be even better as he gets older and knows the real reason we celebrate Easter, Jesus' Resurrection.
