12 Months - Week 3

What Happened? Today was not a very good one. It was school picture day and we got off to a bad start. We started getting ready and Daniel fell off the couch onto his head with me sitting there! Luckily there were no bumps or bruises but it sure did put him in a mood. We finished getting ready and when we got to school he cried when I handed him over. We have gotten past that so I knew it was him just wanting him mama. I left and around 11:20am I got a call from his teacher telling me he had been crying for a little while and was not settling down so I needed to come get him. He did not even get his picures made because he cried when they tried. Oh Well, I was all the way on Windy Hill Rd in Atlanta and his school is close to Acworth. I called my brother, Uncle John and asked if he could go get the D man and watch him until I got there and of course he did. We realized John did not have a car seat but he just sat with him in the car until I got there around 12:10 or so. He was sound asleep on Uncle John's shoulder. He saved the day!
Words? He regularly uses bye-bye, ma-ma, da-da, day-day (Daisy), hey and will try to say just about anything you ask him to.
Food? He is doing really well at trying new things. I have not been able to get him to eat eggs until today and he ate quite a bit. He LOVES bananas and peaches! I have also been working on getting him to eat what we do and it is working pretty well. He likes quesadillas and Mexican rice now!
Activities? Pulling all of his toys out of the toy boxes! He also has a little engineer mind and tries to figure out how everything works.
New Things? He is understanding what "nite-nite" means and loves to get his bottle and go to bed. He is also back on a normal sleep schedule! Thank you God!
Developments? Sharing! He has become a big time sharer! He especially loves to "share" his food with Daisy!
My Toddler This Week? Your child is watching… everything… you… do. Toddlers love to copy the behavior of the people around them, especially their parents. It's how they learn basic behaviors. You may see your child trying to brush his hair, wiping a counter with his bib, pressing buttons on your cell phone, or trying on your sunglasses. Eventually he'll pick up on your words and speech patterns, too. Imitation has a downside, too. Your child may watch you take vitamins or pills and later, when you're not looking, decide to do the same himself. So be vigilant about safety. Use child-resistant caps on medicines and vitamins, and store the pills out of reach. Don't let him see how you open child-safety latches – he'll be eager to work them just like you do.
