I Finally Have Time!

It has been a very busy few weeks! We have moved into our new house, gone to the beach and spent a week by ourselves while daddy went on a business trip. So much has happened with Daniel during this time.He is now crawling, pulling up in his crib and moving into a sitting position by himself!

We closed on our house May 28th and moved in on May 30th. Our families helped us get the house ready by painting, packing, unpacking, moving stuff and cleaning the carpet! I am so thankful we had so much help. We love the house. Daniel has his own playroom so mommy and daddy have the living room back! YAY! Daniel has not had any problems adjusting to the move. He is a very "flexible" baby. We now have Daisy home with us too! She seems so glad to be home. Daniel loves having Daisy around.

Daniel and I went to the beach on June 5th with Mia, Poppy, Aunt Nicole and Uncle John. We had a blast. Daniel accomplished so many things during this week. He starting scooting, swimming under water and walking everywhere. He saw the beach for the first time and seemed to like it after a brief mishap of getting sand blown in his eyes. He LOVED the pool. He would sit on the side and scoot himself in. He is a little fish!
At the Condo!
 At the Pool
At the Beach!
Playing Putt-Putt
At Gulf World We Saw...

The Turtles!
 Sea Lions!

Birds!

Dolphins!

And then we went back to the Condo...

And found a turtle!
We had so much fun!

New Things/ Things to Watch For? The 9-month-old child continues making major gains in development and begins displaying a little independence. The youngster of this age is always begins displaying a little independence. The youngster of this age is always on the move and will begin to get opinionated about such things as what foods to eat and when to go to sleep. Occasionally, these opinions turn into foods to eat and when to go to sleep. Occasionally, these opinions turn into protests, so now is the time to begin setting some limits and saying "no." The following comments are designed to help you and your partner enjoy your 9-month-old while continuing to gain confidence in yourselves as parents. The information is not intended as a substitute for well-baby visits by your newborn's pediatrician. Never hesitate to ask your child's physician for guidance concerning specific problems. Week 38!!

How Old? 38 weeks (8 Months, 3 Weeks, 3 days)
Weight? 16lbs? We will find out at his 9 month appointment on the 15th.
Clothing? He is still in 6 and 6/9 months clothes and size 3 diapers.
Sleep? He is not a big napper. He naps about 3 or 4 times a day for about 30-45 minutes at a time. He sleeps 10-11 hours through the night.
Toys? Remotes, cords and cables, anything that spins, phones, clothing tags and anything else he can find.
Eating? His appetite had increased since he has been on the Prevacid. He had been eating about 5-6 jars of baby food and around 20 ounces of formula. He is also eating grits in the mornings and several snacks throughout the day. He drinks juice and water from a sippy cup as well.
New discoveries? He is a clapping, waving, high-fiving, scooting and talking machine! He loves to walk while holding onto someone's fingers and can stand for a few seconds by himself.
What I am looking forward to? Gymboree classes for Daniel start on June 19th!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? Your baby's getting closer and closer to full-fledged walking. He can probably crawl up stairs and cruise, moving around upright while holding onto furniture. A baby this age may even take a couple of steps. (A few actually do walk now — and some don't walk until well into their second year. There's a wide range of ages at which children meet this milestone.) Your baby's also learning how to bend his knees and how to sit after standing, which is harder to master than you might think! He might get "stuck" standing up in his crib. If this happens, gently show him how he can get back down. There are ways to help your baby with his walking efforts. Stand or kneel in front of him, and help him walk toward you by holding both of his hands. Eventually just hold your hands out to him in encouragement. Some babies enjoy pushing a toddle truck, which provides both support and mobility. Look for one with a wide, stable base. Babyproofing your home is a necessity now. One good place to start is to put latches on the doors of off-limits cabinets — babies inevitably make a beeline for such things. (You could also move all cleaning supplies or potential poison hazards to higher cabinets.) Also, your baby's crib mattress should be at the lowest mattress setting.

37 Weeks

How Old? 37 weeks (8 Months, 2 Weeks, 3 days)
Weight? hopefully 16lbs
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. size 3 diapers
Sleep? He sleeps great. 10-11 hours straight
Toys? Anything that makes noise or that spins.
Eating? he eats about the same...4-5 jars and 20 ounces of formula. He loves fresh bananas and eats lots of snacks.
New discoveries? He claps and tries to wave. He is also starting to give "high five" He loves to hold hands and walk.
What I am looking forward to? Going to the beach on Friday!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? Your baby's vision — previously about 20/40 at best — is now almost adult-like in its clarity and depth perception. Though your baby's short-range sight is still best, his long- range vision is good enough to recognize people and objects across a room. He may see a toy on the other side of the room and try to crawl toward it. His eyes are also probably close to their final color, although you may see subtle changes later.

36 Weeks

How Old? 36 weeks (8 Months, 1 Week, 3 days)
Weight? 15lbs 12oz as of yesterday
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. size 3 diapers
Sleep? He sleeps great. 10-11 hours straight
Toys? he loves remotes, telephone, and anything he can move with his little fingers.
Eating? He loves anything with sweet potatoes! He also ate brussel sprouts and the little yogurt bites from Gerber.
New discoveries? He watches his feet when he walks. He loves to hold hands and walk.
What I am looking forward to? Closing on the house and the beach in about 10 days!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? Your baby's now exploring objects by shaking them, banging them, dropping them, and throwing them before falling back on the tried-and-true method of gumming them. The idea that you do something with an object is beginning to emerge (using a comb to tidy hair), so an activity center with lots of things your baby can bang, poke, twist, squeeze, shake, drop, and open will fascinate.
Your baby will also be mesmerized by toys that have specific functions, such as phones. If she can't hold it up to her ear herself, do it for her and pretend to have a conversation. Over the next few months, she'll start to use objects for their intended purposes — brushing her hair, drinking from a cup, and babbling on her play phone.

Walt Disney World 2010!!

Day 1
We flew out on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10am. Not only was this Daniel's first trip but it was his first time flying as well. I did not realize how helpful the airport employees are when you have a baby in a stroller. We were directed to go through the handicap lane and bypass the entire line to security. I think we set a record! It probably took us 15 minutes from the time my dad dropped us off until we arrived at the gate and we had to check bags. It was awesome.

Anyways, Daniel did great on the flight. He fell asleep about 10 minutes before take-off and woke up about 30 minutes after we got in the air. He did not seem to have any problems with his ears. He loved looking out the window and at all the people on the plane. He is definitely a people watcher like his daddy! We landed at around 11:35am, Daniel was awake and did not seem to mind.

We took the Disney Magical Express to our resort so Daniel was on a bus for the first time! He did great on it as well. Daddy held him while I fed him some baby food. In about 30 minutes we were at our resort and ready for a nap!

After napping we made plans to meet some friends for dinner in Downtown Disney. We went to the pool and then went a little early and did some shopping. We ate at Cap'n Jack's with Nic, Suzette, Nikki and Laney. We had a great time and were ready to get some sleep.

Day 2
We got up, ate breakfast and started our day at Magic Kingdom! We went to the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor first. He had a good time. We were chosen to be on the big screen as the "2-headed human". After that we went to Mickey's Toontown Fair and rode the Walt Disney World Railroad. We then rode the Tea Cups. By then it was about lunch time and Daniel was Sound asleep in his stroller.

It was time to go back to the resort. Mimi and Pops would be arriving soon! We took a nap and got up a little while after Mimi and Pops came in. Brian and I went back to Magic Kingdom to ride Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz Light Year and Space Mountain. Daniel went to the Pool with Mimi and Pops. We met them for dinner at the T-Rex Cafe in Downtown Disney. Brian and I then went to Epcot for the Magic Hours. About 10pm we were exhausted and went back to the hotel.

Day 3
We took the day off from the parks and went to the Pool, relaxed, went to Whispering Canyon for lunch and did some shopping in Downtown Disney. Daniel had to get used to the pool but he eventually liked it. I think the water was too cold at first. He met a little girl that was 10 days younger than him and I think she took his mind off the cold water : ) It was a pretty relaxing day.

Day 4
We got up, went to breakfast and then to Animal Kingdom. Daniel was ready to go! Every morning he was excited to get out the door.We rode Expedition Everest first. This was a great ride for Daddy, Mimi and Mommy. Pops and Daniel stayed behind in the shade. Next we rode the TriceraTop Spin. Daniel loved it, as did the rest of us. Then we made our way to Dinasour. Daniel could not ride this, but we did the parent trade off and it worked quite nicely. We really wanted to go see Mickey but when we got to where he was supposed to be he was gone. We did however, see Lilo and Stitch! Daniel and Daddy were so excited! Daniel fell asleep with excitement, lol.  The last thing was the Kilimanjaro Safaris. This was what mommy really wanted to do. Daniel was more interested in the lady in front of us than the animals!

For lunch we ate at the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. Now it was 3:00pm and we needed a nap! We went back to the resort and layed down. Daniel decided he would only sleep for 30 minutes. We went to the pool for a little while and then it started getting cloudy. It looked like it was going to storm. The pool closed and we went in to try to take a nap again! This time Mommy and Daniel napped for at least an hour and a half! About 8:30pm or so we headed to Hollywood Studios. First we went to The Magic of Disney Animation, then we headed to the Great Movie Ride. The big one I wanted to do was the Toy Story ride. The line is always long, but we only waited about 30 minutes. Mimi and Pops took Daniel back to the resort at around 10:00pm and Mommy and Daddy stayed for the Magic Hours. We rode Star Tours and did a little shopping then went back to the resort. It was a very long day so we all slept great!

Day 5
This was the last day of vacation. We got up, packed, ate breakfast and headed to Downtown Disney for our last shopping trip. We checked our luggage and checked in for our flight at the resort. Around noon we headed back to catch the Disney Magical Express and head to the airport. We ate lunch at the Outback at the airport and boarded the plane. Daniel fell asleep again before take off and woke up about 30 minutes later. He was great on the plane. We made it home and back to reality!

35 Weeks

How Old? 35 weeks (8 Months 3 days)

Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. size 3 diapers
Sleep? He sleeps great. 10-11 hours straight
Toys? He likes his new Mickey Mouse, okay 2 new Mickey Mouse toys ( :
Eating? He is eating 4-5 jars of baby food and 20+ ounces of formula. He also eats little snacks like cheerios, cheese puffs and whatever else he can pick up and put in his mouth.
New discoveries? He flew in a plane, rode a bus and went to Disney World! He stood up for a few seconds by himself tonight!
What I am looking forward to? Going to the beach in 2 weeks!!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? Your baby's newfound mobility means that he's now entering the land of bumps and falls. These are an inevitable part of childhood, and although your heart may occasionally skip a beat or two, try to enjoy watching your baby explore his surroundings and discover his limits. Restraining your innate desire to protect your baby allows him to grow and learn for himself. However, do make every effort to make your home baby-safe. A good way to do this is to get down to his level to find the possible danger zones. Secure fragile objects so they won't topple, for example, and keep rickety furniture in rooms that are off-limits.

34 Weeks

How Old? 34 weeks (7 Months, 3 weeks 5 days)
Weight? About 16 pounds
Clothing? 6 and 6/9 months. size 3 diapers
Sleep? He has been getting up at night again the last few nights...I think it is because he is teething...
Toys? he loves remotes, cell phones, tupperware and anything else that is not a toy : )
Eating? He is eating 4-5 jars of baby food and about 20 ounces of formula. He also eats little snacks like cheerios, cheese puffs and whatever else he can pick up and put in his mouth.
New discoveries? He is scared of the vacuum, hair dryer and a Buzz Lightyear doll. He also gets really scared with loud noises.
What I am looking forward to? Disney World in 2 days!!!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? As your baby's muscles are becoming stronger, he's apt to lunge forward onto all fours from a sitting position. He may go into a "precrawl" exercise, rocking back and forth on hands and knees with his trunk parallel to the floor. Most babies begin to crawl between 7 and 10 months. A few never crawl at all and bide their time until they're ready to walk!
Your baby's emotions are becoming more obvious. Over the next few months, he may learn to assess and imitate moods and might show the first stirrings of empathy. For instance, if he hears someone crying, he may start crying too. And even though your baby's just beginning to learn about his emotions, he's picking things up from you. Over the many months (and years) to come, your child will likely copy the way he sees you treat people.

Toys? I got him a new stand up/pull up/push toy from a consignment store. He loves it.
Eating? He is eating really well! About 4 jars of baby food and 20-24 ounces of milk. He also likes cheerios, cheese puffs and bits of "big people" food.

What I am looking forward to? Disney World next week! It is also Daniel's first time flying!
New Things/ Things to Watch For? At this age, your baby is probably beginning to understand the word no. Don't be discouraged if he doesn't always obey; testing boundaries and asserting independence are signs that your baby is developing right on schedule! In addition to telling baby “no”, you will want to divert his attention to something else. You can help him to learn which behaviors and toys are acceptable and which are not by patiently reinforcing his desirable behaviors
